"A black-and-white portrait of Gabrielle Martin, capturing her contemplative gaze and artistic essence, reflecting her bold and creative identity as a composer."

Gabrielle Martin is a Montreal-based performer, composer, and creator. With over 20 years of music under her belt, she now devotes herself to various musical and multidisciplinary projects with a diverse range of artists.

She first immersed herself in the world of music by learning piano and violin, later shifting to the double bass out of an interest in orchestral playing. She earned her master’s degree in double bass at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal under Joel Quarrington’s guidance. Following this, she began a Bachelor’s in contemporary instrumental composition with Maxime McKinley at the same institution but soon pivoted toward music composition for visual media, completing a D.E.S.S. in film scoring at UQAM (2023). She is currently finishing her second bachelor’s degree in instrumental music at the Conservatoire, this time under Nicolas Gilbert.

Enjoying a lively and adventurous life, she juggles a wide range of professional activities, performing with several orchestras such as the Orchestre de l’Agora, teaching double bass at various institutions, and working on composing music for films, concert pieces, and other media (dance, theater, installations, and more!).

She also enjoys other art forms such as poetry writing and visual art creation.
